Un/Fractured is a gathering of church leaders who seek to keep Jesus at the center of our churches and our main focus amidst potential political discourse, polarity, and all that may come in the next season. Key leaders in the Portland church community deliver TED-style talks that allow us to delve deeper together, equipping pastors and leaders in the Church to lead with grace and truth amidst highly critical conversations.

UN/FRACTURED PODCAST
Episode 1
Ray Kim hosts a conversation with pastors Josh Butler and Naseem Khalili about fostering a Christ-like posture amidst political and cultural divisions. They discuss ten Christian political commitments, emphasizing posture over specific political positions, and reflect on the challenge of maintaining these postures in a polarized climate. They highlight the importance of face-to-face communication, staying at the table with differing views, and not letting culture wars dictate the church’s stance on issues like justice and ethics.
Episode 2
Josh Butler and Naseem Khalili discuss the importance of local civic engagement over national politics. They emphasize the church’s role in biblical justice and reconciliation, drawing parallels to the early church’s radical impact on society, and stress the importance of respect, common ground, and the church’s countercultural presence in local communities.
Episode 3
Josh Butler and Naseem Khalili discuss the challenges of ideological filters in communication, particularly in the context of the political environment and election seasons. They emphasize the importance of self-awareness, mindfulness, and listening in mitigating misunderstandings and highlight the power of genuine listening to de-escalate conflicts. The conversation concludes with advice on fostering healthy small group dynamics and the potential benefits of disconnecting from social media for a season to reconnect with real relationships.
