Found Son: Reconciliation

Luke 15:1-3 (NLT)
Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! So Jesus told them this story…

Luke 15:8 (NLT)
“…Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it?

Luke 15:9-10 (NLT)
And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”

Sheep: Lost and Far
Coin: Lost and Near

Revelation 2:4 (NLT)
But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first.

Sometimes, when your faith grows older, your love grows colder.

The lost coin reminds us that there are some who have a connection to the church, but are disconnected from the church. They are not far away but they are not where they need to be.

Luke 15:8 (NLT)
“…Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it?

VALUE URGENCY PERSISTENCY

Every number has a name.
Every name has a story.
Every story matters to God.

Luke 15:9-10 (NLT)
And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”

Value
Urgency
Persistency

Who do you know that is near to you but may be far from God?
Who do you know?
What will you do?

Value: Pray “God I want to treasure people the way you do…”
Urgency: Make the call, the text, the coffee date, the fire-pit invite…
Persistency: Decide, “I’m not going to give up on them because God hasn’t given up on me.”

There’s nobody that God can’t reach.
There’s nobody that God can’t use.
There’s no place God can’t revive.
