The Summit Block Party is a drop-in afterschool hangout space for West Linn middle schoolers located in the Cascade Summit Shopping Center. Designed with teens in mind, it’s a comfortable place to talk, share a snack with friends, play games and more.
The Summit Block Parties happen every Friday that school is in session – 3:45-5:30pm
That’s up to them! They’re welcome to visit Safeway, Starbucks, or any of the other merchants in the shopping center, then bring their purchases in to The Summit to enjoy. While they’re here, they can just hang out and talk to their friends or use the free Wi-Fi. For the active types, there are is four square, spikeball, basketball, and more. Kids can also use the paved space behind the center, or head down the stairs to Tanner Creek Park.
Pastor Dayne will be in charge of operations at The Block Party, along with background-checked volunteers providing additional support and supervision.
Only you can decide if The Block Party is appropriate for your child. The Block Party is not afterschool care, but a drop-in center where students can hang out. They are not required to sign in and out, just as they would not be asked to do so anywhere else in the shopping center. Students are free to come and go as they wish – but we believe they’ll WANT to stay once they check it out.
