IT'S IMPORTANT

WHAT YOU DO: Play a game with your children where they act out different objects and actions. Start by having them pretend to be airplanes and fly around the room. Then ask why airplanes are important. Next, have them pretend they are eating their favorite food. Ask them why food is important.Continue this game by acting out different actions like sleeping, bathing, running, brushing teeth, etc. for as long as the kids are interested. Finish by telling them that THEY are important! Tell them why!

I AM IMPORTANT TO GOD!

WHAT YOU NEED: “I Am Important Ribbon” (attached), scissors, hole punch and ribbon or safety pin, crayons

WHAT YOU DO: Remind your child that we are important to God! How do we know that? Because God MADE us! Have your child color the ribbon and either turn it into a necklace with a hole punch and ribbon or use a safety pin to attach it to their shirt.

Take A Look

Find a mirror in your house and take a look at yourself. See those eyes, hair, and beautiful skin? God created you just the way He wanted you. Did you know there is no one else exactly like you? It’s true.

Grab some paper and some craft supplies. Draw a picture of yourself just
as you are right now.
Remember to add all the things that make you super special. Make sure to add every beauty mark, freckle, and dimple! God made them all just for you.

Know that God made you so special that there is no one just like you.

But First, a Selfie

"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27

Ask an adult if you can borrow a cellphone and snap a selfie. Go ahead and strike a silly pose. Now take a look at that picture. It’s an image of you. A photo. It’s not really you. That image can’t walk and talk and breathe (though it does look exactly like you!). And it does show us quite a bit about what you are like, including a little window into your personality.

In the same way a selfie reflects an image of the person in the picture, you are made in the image of God! You aren’t God of course, but of all the wonderful things God made, people—you and me—are most like Him. We can think and feel and laugh and play and love others. We can read and draw and create.

Grab a piece of paper and whatever art supplies you have on hand. Create anything you’d like; the sky is the limit
. Somewhere on the page write this week’s bottom line: God created you, so you can be creative.
